Message from the Editor-in-Chief

Dear Readers,

I consider it an honour and privilege to be associated with the Indian Health Economics and Policy Association (IHEPA) and being the founder editor of its journal Health Empirics. This is an unique endeavour to offer an outlet for dissemination of health research in terms of its programmatic interface and policy derivatives. This journal intends to serve as an avenue for displaying health research based on wide ranging health information base available in terms of surveys, administrative statistics and programme statistics. A journal specialised in publishing wide ranging health related information base and its empirical inspection to guide policy priorities is perhaps most timely in the current scheme of things.

This should serve as a vehicle for exposition of local scholarship in health research and reflect the systematic endeavour the association makes towards capacity building in research in this arena. Given the scarcity of social science journals in the Indian publishing scene, Health Empirics should strive to make a mark in terms of quality publication of contemporary relevance. I consider this a genuine endeavour to showcase scientific enquiries based on available information base pertaining to health in particular and its associated features like deprivation, well-being, inequities that receives attention of the academia as well as the practitioners and policy makers.

I wish it to match its prevailing peers in terms of content and relevance.

Warm regards,

Prof. Udaya S Mishra
